Follow Your Bliss.
I started plumbing the year after I got out of the Army. I went into an apprentice program on the GI bill and worked as an apprentice for 3 years in Portsmouth, VA. I worked for Ellsworth Plumbing and Heating Co, a four generation company of plumbers, during the day and went to school at night in Norfolk. This was my start. Time moved forward to 1992 and I started a small business in Virginia Beach and got married to the love of my life Tina Marie. She quickly got introduced to plumbing and she started helping with my work. We loved the outdoors and always went hiking. Eventually, under a lot of peoples protest, and a few people cheering us on, we decided to sell our house, quit working, and take a year off and hike the Appalachian Trail. Everyone said, “What are you going to do after hiking the Appalacian Trail? What will you do for work and where will you live?”. We were confident in our faith that the Lord would lead us so my answer always was, “We will go back into plumbing”. The hike was AMAZING and life changing. We started our hike along the AT in Feb of 2002 and when we finished 8 and 1/2 months later we came back to settle in Roanoke where we started subcontracting until we got in the phone book the following year. We named our company A.T. Plumbing which stands for "ALL THANKS to God, ALEC and TINA got to hike the APPALACHIAN TRAIL". In 2004 I acquired my master license and now have three trucks, three employees, and a humble shop. We are not out here to get rich but to provide a service and do it well. We do what we love and love what we do.
Our Little "Farm"
If we're not out and about serving the people of Roanoke then we're probably tending to our little "farm" at home. We currently have twenty-seven hens, two roosters, two bee hives, two dogs, and three cats. We love our pets and especially love sharing our honey and eggs with the community. Fun fact, all of our critters are named after plumbing parts and products. All except one and her name is “Lucky”. Lucky was lucky.
